Shark Attack

Brand: Girl
Size: 8.25″ x 32″
Year: 2013
Artist: Hershel Baltrotsky

This board graphic is inspired from the movie Jaws and its poster. It was an American thriller directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1975. The artist of the original poster is Roger Kastel. Instead of a real human, here we have the Girl doll swimming about to get attacked by a shark. A similar typo of the movie poster is used for “Girl” and it keeps the red color which can represent the blood and violence on the doll attack. The shark featured on this deck is the exact replica of the movie poster. Sean Malto, skater riding for Girl, also had this board as pro model, only the name changed on the graphic. This deck has been very popular and has seen multiple releases over the years. It also came out with some variations, a red colored ocean version and a night version, with the doll being white. Originally released in 2009, the board here is from 2013 and has “1993” on the top graphic for the 20-year anniversary of Girl. Hershel Baltrotsky, the artist who made this graphics, was the art director of Girl Skateboards from 2008 to 2014.
Make sure to ckeck out the interview we did with Hershel Baltrotsky to learn more about this board graphic and his job as the art director at Girl Skateboards.
