Mike Mo Capaldi

This deck is part of the six piece Big Babies series made by Girl and released in 2014. We can see Mike Mo Capaldi sitting wearing a diaper and a hat with the Girl logo on it, and a pair of sunglasses. It’s really rare when his full name is displayed on board models, it usually only says Mike Mo. The font used for the skater’s name is childish with rounded corners and the multicolored letters help to fit in with the picture and the theme series. It’s worth noting that the letter “O” of every skater’s name is replaced by a star with the Girl logo inside. For Cory Kennedy’s board, this is the letter “D” which is replaced by a star though. The idea of developping this series orginally came from a Eric Koston one-off board. Hershel Baltrotsky, who made the graphics for this series and who was the art director of Girl Skateboards from 2008 to 2014, explained it in the interview we did with him. He said that all the babies shown in this series are stolen from the internet.
